Emily earned her undergraduate degree from American University in Washington, D.C. and then went on to complete her M.A.in Counselling at Dallas Theological Seminary. Before moving to Hong Kong, Emily worked with various nonprofits focused on raising awareness and gathering research to combat human trafficking worldwide. After working in the nonprofit sector, she went on to counsel at a private practice called Richland Oaks Counseling Center in Dallas,Texas.
There she spent time with a variety of clients from diverse backgrounds, on issues that include anxiety, depression, human sexuality, sexual addiction, relationship unhappiness, and mood disorders, amongst several others.
Emily’s counseling process combines an interpersonal, emotions-focused approach based heavily on attachment theory, with the addition of Internal Family Systems techniques. Her passion is to help people heal internal wounds and find freedom from overwhelming emotions.
Emily recognizes the courage it takes to begin counseling and wants to create a safe space for transformation to occur. Her goal is to develop individualized treatment plans that meet her clients’ unique needs and help them grow healthy relationships throughout a lifetime.
