Dr. Phyllis Tung

Clinical psychologist


Dr. Phyllis Tung is a Clinical Psychologist, with a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s in Christian Marriage and Family Therapy. Through her training and work experiences in community agencies, psychiatric clinic, and a half-way house for the mentally ill population, she has gained a broad range of clinical expertise helping children, teenagers, adults and families, to deal with psychological difficulties. These include difficulties such as depression, anxiety, dissociative disorders, and life challenges such as eating or sleeping problems, adjustment issues, grieve and bereavement, addictive behaviours, as well as marital and relationship distress.

Phyllis integrates various evidence-based approaches including Internal Family System Therapy (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and adapts according to her clients’ needs.

Phyllis values the uniqueness of every person. She believes everyone has aimed and strived to live the best of their life, abide being hindered by limitations and challenges at times. Phyllis works with clients in a warm and supportive way, creates a safe & comfortable relationship to facilitate client’s self-exploration process, helps identifying and removing roadblocks that hinder one’s development, and optimizes growth and maturity in one’s life journey.

Phyllis speaks Cantonese, English and Mandarin. She is the Adjunct Scholar of Lutheran Theological Seminary, and provides supervision to counsellors and trainees. She and her husband enjoy exploring the beauty of natural scenery in Hong Kong and through different parts of the world.
